Job Role
The role holder will identify and deliver opportunities to create impactful social and economic benefits in Surrey, ensuring that “everyone has a great start to life, people live healthy and fulfilling lives, are enabled to achieve their full potential, and contribute to their economy, leaving no one behind.” Responsible for building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders in Surrey.
Duties
• Liaise with Surrey County Council, dealing with different stakeholders from Councillors, Clients to Local residents and other Surrey based social, community and education groups.
• Work with young people, schools and STEM organisations to promote opportunities in highways to Surrey residents and to remove barriers to entering the industry
• Recruit and support apprentices
• Challenge the supply chain to ensure we maximise and fill the opportunities for apprentices, work experience placements and support for community groups on the project.
• Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) activities across the contract to align workforce diversity to reflect the Surrey working age population and support the Ringway EDI/FIR strategy
• Promote employee involvement in social value activities in schools, with charities and through volunteering
• Deliver wellbeing activities across the Surrey contract including supporting the ManBassador programme, in line with wider divisional aims on employee wellbeing
• Manage and coordinate relevant activities to map, monitor, report, and evidence all elements of performance relating to project-led social value KPIs.
• Submit detailed reports to the Divisional and other senior Ringway management on the status of the social, economic and environmental strategy.
• Work in partnership with the Client and in a collaborative manner.
• Attend Business Unit progress meetings where and when required.
• To carry out all duties and responsibilities in a manner that supports the Company Vision and Mission.
• To work closely with the Senior Business Unit Management to ensure effective contract delivery and to facilitate an effective learning loop between contract delivery and quality performance.
Person Specification
Experience
• Experience of delivering Social Value in collaboration with key stakeholders, preferably in the construction industry.
• Experience of community engagement, managing the interests of multiple stakeholders while inspiring them to action
• Knowledge and experience of social value measurement (for example TOMS/Loop/National Highways)
• Demonstrable awareness of the wider sustainability and social impact agenda.
